Call for participation

The largest AI conference, IJCAI, will be organized in Stockholm, Sweden between 31st of July and 6th of August, 1999. As one of the affiliated events, workshop Networks'99 will be organized in Helsinki area also emphasizing the Nordic character of the conference. This workshop is arranged on August 9-10, 1999 in Helsinki. The organizers are Finnish Artificial Intelligence Society (FAIS), VTT Electronics, and University of Helsinki, Department of Computer Science (tbc).

The topics of Networks'99 include applications of Bayesian networks, case-based reasoning, neural networks and the hybrid systems based on the various combinations of these, evolutionary systems and fuzzy logic.

Not as a part of the official programme the participants of IJCAI'99 can benefit from the luxurious connections between Stockholm and Helsinki over the sea.

 The departure is from Stockholm at 5 p.m. and the ship will arrive to Helsinki next morning.

Travel information

If you travel by plane, the arrival is at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Transportation from the airport:

The trip from the airport to the city or to the Otaniemi area takes half an hour by taxi, or a little more by public transport. If the traffic is heavy it may take extra 15 minutes.

Boat from Stockholm arrives at Helsinki Olympic terminal, distance from center is only one kilometer. Tram 3T takes you from terminal to center, just beside bus station. ( 3B goes from center to terminal. )

Bus number 102 shuttles from the early morning till midnight between Helsinki bus station at the city center and Otaniemi. The bus leaves from pier 51 at the bus station, which is located in the immediate city center. The trip takes about 10 minutes, 5-7 minutes more if the bus goes via Lauttasaari (marked by T on the bus).
