Media Lab Helsinki is contributing Art's Birthday 2006 celebration by organizing NoiseCity Helsinki event. NoiseCity Helsinki will bring together four different performances during the electro acoustic noise night of Art's Birthday celebration on Saturday 14th of January 2006 at KokoTeatteri (Unioninkatu 45). Ibrahim Terzic
Bosnian born Ibrahim Terzic is a prolific sonic artist based in Helsinki. Terzic has developed his own unique style of new electronic music. Terzic's music ranges from glitchy crackles, through processed pop, to hard, loud noise.Ibrahim Terzic currently resides and works in Helsinki, Finland.

Koray Tahiroglu
Koray Tahiroglu is a sound artist, grew up in Istanbul and moved to Helsinki in 2000 to study at Media Lab UIAH. At the moment, within the same institution, he is doing an artistic research on modeling human observable musical activity. He is experimenting on creating possible environments for generative musical improvisation with experimental musical instruments and interactive systems that give a possibility for audience to participate in an act of improvisation. Composing and performing electro-acoustic music has been a junction point for all of his interests in contemporary art.

Petri Kuljuntausta
Petri Kuljuntausta is a composer, performer and sound artist. He is famous for music composed of sounds both natural and extraordinary. In close collaboration with natural scientists, he has composed an underwater installation from underwater materials and made music out of whale calls and the sounds of the northern lights. In many ways Kuljuntausta's art is based on good knowledge of tradition; soundscapes, concrete music, live-electronics, improvisation and collaborations with media artists has influenced him as a composer.

Pink Twins
Pink Twins are brothers Juha and Vesa Vehviläinen, computer musicians and visual artists. In Pink Twins' music and video works "the logical and analytic thematic developments surrender to the frenetic and non-repetitive information overflow". Pink Twins are based in Helsinki, Finland.

KORAY TAHIROGLU    21:30 (GMT+2)
Koray Tahiroglu will perform the piece Call in the Dark Noise, a musical improvisation process, that will be generated together with the response of the audience to the improvisation in the form of SMS messages and http based submitted texts. The interactive performance system will alter these massages and transform them into individual sound structures. These altered sounds will be collective musical activity for him during his performance with experimental musical instruments and real-time algorithms. PETRI KULJUNTAUSTA    22:00 (GMT+2)
Petri Kuljuntausta will perform the piece called Water City. The piece is based on sounds of sea life, processed Beluga whales, noises of ship-construction [recordings made at the Hietalahti shipyard in Helsinki], sounds of shrimp chorus... And during the performance he is also going to play feedback lines/textures.
