Recent activities

• Promoting a project on natural language interaction

• Serving as the Finnish representative in IFIP/TC12 (area of artificial intelligence)

• Serving as the Finnish representative in the board of Nordic research programme on language technology.

• Serving as constituting board member of Nordic Interactive.

• Lecturing at summer school on Soft computing in intelligent systems

• Organizing Media Lab doctoral seminars (1999-2000). Up-to-date information on doctoral studies at UIAH Media Lab is collected by Prof. Mauri Kaipainen.

• Lecturing on Learning systems for humanities

• Lecturing on themes in artificial intelligence and cognitive science

• Giving talks in Context'99, ECAL'99, IIP2000 and ICEUT2000 conferences

• Representative of Finnish AI Society in the organization of IJCAI'99 conference. Involvement in organization of Finnish Associated Event of IJCAI'99: Networks'99

• Chairman of the organizing committee of "Games, Computers and People" seminar on May 19.

• Member of organizing committee of "In terms design" workshop in the Nordic Interactive Multimedia Research School.
