In your process of ‘cut’, I am interested in how this relates to ‘proximity’ which you earlier discussed in the previous presentation. I understand that you were looking into what you called micro and macro sounds represented by body (or close proximity) sounds and the environment (or distant sounds). Listening to the work here I get a feeling of dissonance in the distance/proximity not in terms of space but in terms of meaning. So this leads me to ask about the context of sounds, and the meanings that we associate with sounds - and our so-called ‘natural tendencies’ to associate certain meanings and contexts to sounds. So you work also questions this tendency - is it ‘natural’ or ‘conditioned’? I think these are interesting questions raised by your collective work.
