Quicktime movie from the installation!

(Interface Excess: Body Language Translator)

Projektikuvaus suomeksi

- interactive installation, where participant interacts with the raw movement of his/her body

-translates and verbalises the "body language" of the participant

-creates automatically a web page out of this verbalisation

- participant is constantly in realtime interaction with the voice (speech synthesis) of the system, which gives real time response of the participants movement, this response includes encouragement and advise for the participants movement in different phases of the interaction, (it plays with the impression of a computerised but "humanlike real and intelligent perception" )

-verbalisations created seem random-poetic or enigmas uttered by an oracle but there is no randomness: the verbalisation is directly in interrelationship with the movement

-central aspect is the "performance" of the participant since more than "normal" quotidian amount of movement is required

-one can participate individually or as a group

IFXS BLT was exhibited in Budapest Internet.Galaxis 26.2.-4.3.1998 in collaboration with C3.

-installation runs in MacintoshPower Pc ( 601 / 60 MHz 32 Mb ram absolute minimum)

-better and more stable performance with faster machine

-installation utilises VNS (motion tracking system created by David Rokeby) for the raw analysis of the participants movement and Max software for the logic of interaction
